In the second half of 2016 giant food retail chain SPAR granted an exclusive license to Malta Retailing Ltd, a member of the Azzopardi Group, to operate the SPAR Brand in Malta. The first SPAR store was officially opened on the 12th of June 2018 in Marsaxlokk. The newly refurbished 340 m² store boasts a bakery, a delicatessen, a large range of fresh produce, a coffee offering, freshly packed fish and meats, as well as a large selection of SPAR Own Brand products. Following the Marsaxlokk store SPAR Malta went on to open a 300 m² store in Tigne Street Sliema together with a 2,500 sq. INTERSPAR Supermarket within Daniel’s Shopping Mall in Hamrun. The year 2020 sees the expansion of the brand with the introduction of SPAR Bugibba, spread across one floor, this neighborhood store continues to guarantee our shoppers with value for your money. The fifth store opened in SPAR Ta’ Xbiex, in April of 2021 and finally, our first local EUROSPAR Supermarket – The Point (Tigne), specialising in genuine hand meal options, opened it’s doors in November 2022. SPAR Malta aims at becoming one of the leading retail brands on the island with a strong focus on utilizing the success of SPAR Own Brand products; not only making them available to local customers but also developing the range in accordance with their specific needs.
